Understanding In-Network vs. Out-of-Network Dental Coverage
At our practice, we believe patients should have the freedom to choose the dentist they trust. We are happy to work with your insurance benefits, whether we are in-network or out-of-network.
In-Network Coverage
"In-network” means a dental office has a contract with your insurance company.
Fees are set by the insurance company’s contracted rates
Coverage and co-pays are determined by your specific plan
The office follows insurance company guidelines and fee schedules
Out-of-Network Coverage
"Out-of-network” means we do not have a direct contract with your insurance company. However, most dental plans still provide benefits that can be used toward care in our office.
You may still use your dental insurance benefits
Your insurance may reimburse a portion of treatment based on your plan
Any difference in coverage is typically the responsibility of the patient
Understanding Dental Insurance
Dental insurance is designed to help offset the cost of care and is different from medical insurance. Most plans include limitations such as annual maximums and coverage percentages.
Most plans have a yearly maximum benefit
Once that maximum is reached, any remaining treatment is typically out-of-pocket
Dental insurance generally does not function like medical insurance, where coverage may continue after a deductible is met
Insurance & Our Role
We are happy to help you understand and utilize your insurance benefits. To keep things transparent:
Insurance plans are contracts between you and your insurance provider
We are able to provide estimates of coverage, but final determinations are made by your insurance company
We will submit claims on your behalf as a courtesy
What This Means for You
You are not required to change dentists due to insurance changes
We will continue to provide care and submit claims regardless of network status
Our team will help you understand expected costs before treatment whenever possible
Our focus remains on providing high-quality, individualized care
Important Note
Insurance estimates are not a guarantee of payment. Actual coverage is determined by your insurance provider.
